Included in the list is the entire state. Illinois Probate Law requires certificatioin for every Guardian by the Center for Guardianship Certification within six months after appointment.

A cooperative effort of the Office of the Chief Judge, Probate Division of the Circuit Court, the Clerk of the Circuit Court, and the Center for Disability and Elder Law.

The Pro Se Adult Guardianship Help Desk provides information and assistance to persons without an attorney who seek an adjudication of disability for an adult with a disability (ies) and appointment of a Guardian of the Person for that adult.  Assistance is provided regarding the process and procedures; completion of required pleadings and forms' filing petitions, scheduling heraings' service of Summons and Notice' and general procedures for hearings.

The Help Desk is open Monday through Friday 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., on all days on which cour is in session.

Volunteers cannot assist pro se petitioners in the proceedings which require that a guardian of the estate be appointed.  Volunteers do not provide legal advice and/or representation.  Those who would prefer representation by an attorney are provided with referrals to appropriate legal service organizations and/or to lawyer referral services for assistance.
