After dealing with this agency, I'm embarrassed to say I'm Catholic. Who do you complain to in regard to the way they treat the elderly? Just like the Catholic priests, they'd cover it up.
After hearing the horror stories of what happens after you contact this agency, I wouldn't recommend doing so. Although, I had very good experiences with the social workers. I've met so many because they do wellness checks on the elderly and I happen to know a lot of Senior Citizens. Some people find it intrusive when they check the fridge or the finances (checkbook) but it made me feel good that they would take such good care of the elderly. Yes, they even questioned me many times but shouldn't they? They don't know who I am.
In any event, I would NOT call this agency to report elder abuse. If you call the police or even report a nursing home, you're calling this agency. Call a family member FIRST, if there is no family then call a good friend first and try to work out the abuse yourselves.
I would definitely call this agency to report a public or private guardian. Anyone that is a paid guardian and is abusive, neglectful or financially exploiting the "ward" or "client" make the call. Forget reporting their abuse to the attorney or if they have a bank trustee, you'll only upset the paid, private guardian further and they'll become more abusive and threatening. It's best to call this agency.
